Purpose

To collect attitudinal and behavioural data from households and individuals relating to the environment.

Description

The survey provides data on households' involvement with Greenpower energy schemes. These schemes use various forms of energy from solar, wind, hydro and biomass (such as gas generated in landfills) to generate electrical power.

Method of collection

The survey is run as a supplement to the Monthly Population Survey. The MPS is a sample of private dwellings and non-private dwellings (hotels, motels, etc.). The proportion of Australian dwellings selected this way is approximately 0.5%. For this survey, half the private dwelling sample
(i.e. 15,500 dwellings) are used.
