DESCRIPTION

This survey provides information on employed persons who worked less than 35 hours in the week prior to the survey and preferred to work more hours. Details collected include whether they were looking for work with more hours, the number of extra hours preferred, whether they were available to start work with more hours, their experience in looking for work with more hours and the duration of the current period of insufficient work.

The survey provides some data on education which may be useful in examining links between education and underemployment. The following education data items are available:

    • Level of highest educational attainment
    • whether a lack of necessary skills or education caused difficulties in finding extra work.
