WESTERN AUSTRALIA

  • In 2016-17, the ten SA2s with the largest population increases in Western Australia were all within Greater Perth. The SA2 of Ellenbrook, in Perth's north-east, had the largest growth in terms of absolute numbers, increasing by 2,300 to reach 39,500 people. Large growth also occurred in Forrestdale - Harrisdale - Piara Waters (2,200) in Perth's south-east, the outer coastal SA2 of Alkimos - Eglinton (2,100) north-west of the city, and Baldivis (2,000) in the south-west.
  • Alkimos - Eglinton was the fastest-growing SA2 in Western Australia in 2016-17, up by 25%. This was followed by the coastal area of North Coogee (16%) in Perth's south-west, Forrestdale - Harrisdale - Piara Waters and Casuarina - Wandi, in the south-west (both 11%).
  • Of the SA2s outside of Greater Perth, those with the largest growth were Busselton Region (350) and Busselton (340), both in the south-west of the state. The SA2s with the fastest growth were Busselton Region (3.3%) and Dalyellup (3.0%), an outer suburb of Bunbury.
