ABS 2005 Year Book: Request Your Embargo Copy Now

For a century Year Book Australia, the Australian Bureau of Statistics' "flagship" publication, has provided a comprehensive and detailed statistical review of various aspects of the economy and social conditions in Australia.

The 2005 Year Book Australia contains a unique snapshot of the latest information about our national way of life and provides a valuable resource for media wishing to develop special Australia Day coverage.

It celebrates the Centenary of the Australian Bureau of Statistics and will be officially released at a special event at ABS House in Canberra on Friday 21 January 2005. Media will receive an invitation closer to the time.

Preview copies: The Year Book is available under embargo to media organisations BY REQUEST for the purpose of review and coverage. Please call Rod Campbell on (02) 6252 6139, or email rod.campbell@abs.gov.au.

We anticipate CD ROM copies will be available from 7 January 2005 with hard copies following soon afterwards. A listing of possible story leads based on information contained in the 2005 Year Book Australia will be included with those copies mailed out.

Media note: the content of the Year Book and the storylines are under embargo until 11.30 hours (AEDT) on Friday 21 January, 2005.

This media release was distributed 04/01/05 and posted on the ABS web site 05/01/05.
