This group covers R&D directed towards the physical and chemical conditions of water in various environments.
This group has five objectives:

    961101 Physical and Chemical Conditions of Water for Urban and Industrial Use
    961102 Physical and Chemical Conditions of Water in Coastal and Estuarine Environments
    961103 Physical and Chemical Conditions of Water in Fresh, Ground and Surface Water Environments (excl. Urban and Industrial Use)
    961104 Physical and Chemical Conditions of Water in Marine Environments
    961199 Physical and Chemical Conditions of Water not elsewhere classified

    Exclusions:
    a) Environmentally sustainable ways of managing water consumption and liquid waste generated by economic activities are included in Sector B Economic Development.
    b) Changes in the physical and chemical conditions of water due to climate change are included in Group 9603 Climate and Climate Change.
    c) Water evaluation, including water quality and sustainability of supply for human populations and economic activities, is included in Group 9606 Environmental and Natural Resource Evaluation.
    d) Water management, including management of wastewater and stormwater, is included in Group 9609 Land and Water Management.
