This group covers R&D directed towards improving the characteristics and growing of winter grains and oilseeds, including cereals grown either partially or entirely for use as fodder or feed grain.
This group has eight objectives:

820501 Barley
820502 Canola
820503 Grain Legumes
820504 Linseed
820505 Lupins
820506 Oats
820507 Wheat
820599 Winter Grains and Oilseeds not elsewhere classified

Exclusions:
a) Harvesting and packing of unprocessed grains and oilseeds is included in Group 8206 Harvesting and Packing of Plant Products.
b) Management of environmental impacts from production of winter grains and oilseeds is included in Group 8298 Environmentally Sustainable Plant Production.
c) Manufacture of processed products from these plants is included in Division 86 Manufacturing.
d) Operation of irrigation systems is included in Group 9004 Water and Waste Services.
