This paper explains how the detailed international trade statistical classifications, the Harmonised Tariff Item Statistical Code (HTISC) and Australian Harmonised Export Commodity Code (AHECC) are maintained by the ABS. This maintenance role includes updating the classifications by evaluating requests for additions or changes to commodity information. It goes on to provide information on how requests for changes can be assessed.
