Foreign trade data may be suppressed to prevent the identification of the activities of exporters and importers. This paper provides details concerning: why data may not be disclosed; the ways in which data may be suppressed; how individuals or businesses can register objections to the disclosure of data they consider confidential; how the ABS will handle these objections and the effect of confidentiality on output.
