ABS School Catalogue Service Out Today

Statpak Online, a service which matches Australian high school curricula with relevant official statistical publications and products, was released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

The service, which is available free on the ABS web site helps school teachers and librarians find the information they need for high school subjects from among the enormous volume of statistics that the ABS produces.

The 2001 issue of Statpak Online was produced in response to an increasing demand from schools for statistical information to support classroom activities and research projects.

The relevance of ABS statistics to particular key learning areas is explained for each subject entry and entries are organised into subject areas for the convenience of teachers and school librarians.

Follow the links to find the publication/product description, the special school price and issue information needed for ordering.

To access the service
Access the ABS web site at www.abs.gov.au, then click on the Themes button on the navigation panel; click on the Education Services link and click on Statpak Online.

For schools unable to access the internet, a printed version of Statpak Online is available on request from the National Education Services Unit: phone 1800 623 272 or 03 9615 7041, fax 03 9615 7788.

The National Education Services Unit provides a range of teaching materials through it's web pages on the ABS web site. The Education Services link takes you to an abundance of curriculum material and lesson plans designed to help students investigate issues important to the Australian community using statistical data. Activities cross subject streams.
