Measures of Australia's Progress - to be released TOMORROW

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) will release the latest edition of Measures of Australia's Progress tomorrow, Wednesday May 24, 2006.

Measures of Australia's Progress (cat. no. 1370.0) provides a national summary of many of the most important areas of progress. It is a flagship ABS publication and contributes to the national discussion about whether life in Australia is getting better.

The publication paints a picture of Australia's progress over the past ten years using 14 headline dimensions which examine the interrelationships between economic, social and environmental aspects of Australian life.

Headline dimensions include:
Health - Education and training - Work - National income - Economic hardship - National wealth - Housing - Productivity - The natural landscape - Oceans and estuaries - Air and atmosphere - Family, community and social cohesion - Crime - Democracy, governance and citizenship.
