    Preliminary Estimates of Overseas Arrivals and Departures, Australia, January to March 2015
    The Preliminary Overseas Arrivals and Departures (OAD) publication contains modelled estimates on the travel movements of persons arriving in, and departing from, Australia. The focus of this release is to provide some summary OAD estimates. It includes estimates for each category of movement by each state or territory of residence/stay and for Australia. The categories include short-term movements (i.e. less than one year), long-term movements (i.e. one year or more), and permanent movements. For those interested in overseas migration statistics, permanent and long-term movements in this publication are not an appropriate source. For information on Net Overseas Migration (NOM) refer to Migration, Australia (cat. no. 3412.0) and for quarterly NOM data refer to Australian Demographic Statistics (cat. no. 3101.0). Please note the estimates in this publication are a subset of the usual range of OAD statistics, and have not been seasonally adjusted. Final OAD statistics will be available later in June 2015 in Overseas Arrivals and Departures, Australia (cat. no. 3401.0).

    Overseas Arrivals and Departures, Australia, October 2014
    The monthly Overseas Arrivals and Departures (OAD) publication contains statistics on the travel movements of persons arriving in, and departing from, Australia. The focus of this publication is to provide information and analysis of short-term movements (i.e. less than one year), in particular short-term visitor arrivals (STVA) and short-term resident departures (STRD). Statistics on permanent and long-term movements (i.e. one year or more) are also available, however, permanent and long-term movements in this publication are not an appropriate source for migration statistics. For information on Net Overseas Migration (NOM) refer to Migration, Australia (cat. no. 3412.0) and for quarterly NOM data Australian Demographic Statistics (cat. no. 3101.0).

    This discussion paper provides a high level summary of the topics emerging from the submissions received throughout the public submission process for the Information and Communications Technology Statistics Review. It provides details of the next steps in the review process and seeks further input from the public on various aspects of the review. The review is being jointly conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Department of Communications.

    Building Approvals, Australia, March 2015
    Provides the number and value of dwelling units approved by sector (public/private) and by state, number and value of new houses, new other residential dwelling units approved by type of building, and the number and value of non-residential building jobs approved by type of building (i.e. by function such as 'retail and wholesale trade', 'offices') and value ranges. State data includes the number of private sector houses approved; number and value of new other residential dwellings by type of building such as flats, units or apartments in a building of one or two storeys; number and value of non-residential building jobs by type of building and sector; and for Greater Capital City Statistical Areas, the total number of dwelling units approved broken down by Houses, Dwellings Excluding Houses and Total Dwelling Units. Seasonally adjusted and trend estimates by state are included for the number of dwelling units and value of building approved. The quarterly value of building approved is shown in chain volume measure terms. Small geographic area data cubes are presented for Statistical Areas Level 2 and Local Government Areas. Small area data cubes will be released in an "Additional information" release five business days after the main publication.

    International Trade in Goods and Services, Australia, March 2015
    Provides estimates for 15 months of the major aggregates for, and the balance on, international trade in goods and services (balance of payments basis) in both seasonally adjusted and trend estimates terms. Longer term graphs are provided, in seasonally adjusted and trend estimates terms, for the goods and services aggregates, and the balance on goods and services. In addition it provides more detailed commodity statistics for both goods and services in original terms, with goods provided on balance of payments and international trade basis, together with year-to-date information. More detailed services statistics, in seasonally adjusted and trend terms on a monthly basis as well as original terms on a quarterly basis are also provided. Merchandise imports and exports are provided at one and two digit SITC level with selected commodities at three digit level. Merchandise trade data are provided by country and by state. Data on exchange rates and analytical comments are included.

    Apparent Consumption of Alcohol, Australia, 2013-14
    Provides estimates of apparent consumption of alcohol based on availability of alcoholic beverages in Australia. It contains data on the quantity of pure alcohol available for consumption from beer, wine, spirits, ready to drink (pre-mixed) beverages and cider, plus estimates of the total volume of beer and wine available for consumption.

    Apparent consumption measures the amount of alcohol available for consumption (based on excise, import and sales data), but does not measure actual consumption as it does not account for factors such as waste or storage.

    Retail Trade, Australia, March 2015
    Contains monthly estimates of turnover for retail establishments. Trend, seasonally adjusted and original estimates are included for industry groups and states and Australia in current price terms. More detailed current price data classified by state and industry sub group are available from the downloads tab on the ABS website

    Livestock and Meat, Australia, March 2015
    This publication presents statistics on livestock slaughterings and meat production. These statistics are based on a monthly collection from abattoirs and other major slaughtering establishments and include estimates of animals slaughtered by country butchers and other small slaughtering establishments. More detailed information on this series can be obtained by referring to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) quarterly publication, Livestock Products, Australia (cat. no. 7215.0). Additional time series spreadsheets containing state/territory and national data are available from the Downloads tab for this publication. These spreadsheets contain original, seasonally adjusted and trend estimates for slaughtering and meat production for bulls, bullocks and steers, cows and heifers, cattle (excluding calves), calves, sheep, lambs and pigs.
