    This release from Schools, Australia, 2014 contains time series data and commentary on the numbers and full-time equivalent (FTE) of in-school staff in Australia, and ratios of FTE students to FTE teaching staff.

    It supplements data on students already released from this collection including time series of counts and FTE values, for full-time and part-time students.

    A further release of data from this collection scheduled on 19 March, will include time series data containing counts of schools; counts of full-time equivalent students by remoteness area and derived measures of student engagement. Data include disaggregations by state/territory, school affiliation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status, sex, grade and age.

    Criminal Courts, Australia, 2013-14
    Contains national information on defendants finalised in the Higher (Supreme and Intermediate), Magistrates' and Children's criminal courts between 1 July and 30 June each year. Details are provided on the characteristics and outcomes of finalised defendants (including age, sex, Indigenous status, method of finalisation and principal offence committed), and the sentence outcomes associated with those proven guilty (including sentence type and sentence length) by the principal proven offence committed. Information is also presented for each state and territory, and for each of the three court levels.

    International Trade in Goods and Services, Australia, January 2015
    Provides estimates for 15 months of the major aggregates for, and the balance on, international trade in goods and services (balance of payments basis) in both seasonally adjusted and trend estimates terms. Longer term graphs are provided, in seasonally adjusted and trend estimates terms, for the goods and services aggregates, and the balance on goods and services. In addition it provides more detailed commodity statistics for both goods and services in original terms, with goods provided on balance of payments and international trade basis, together with year-to-date information. More detailed services statistics, in seasonally adjusted and trend terms on a monthly basis as well as original terms on a quarterly basis are also provided. Merchandise imports and exports are provided at one and two digit SITC level with selected commodities at three digit level. Merchandise trade data are provided by country and by state. Data on exchange rates and analytical comments are included.

    Preschool Education, Australia, 2014
    Contains counts of children enrolled in and attending preschool in Australia in 2014. The statistics are disaggregated by various classifications including state/territory, sector, Remoteness Areas, Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas Index of Relative Socio-economic Disadvantage, Indigenous status, age, and Year Before Full-time Schooling status. Statistics on preschool program fees and hours enrolled and attended are also presented.

    The Australian Statistician has approved, in exceptional circumstances, a 9.30am EST lockup for this product.

    It is important from a public good perspective that key ministers are able to respond in an informed manner to requests from the media about the statistics in this product and thereby avoiding any inadvertent misinterpretation.

    Approval is required for representatives of Government departments wishing to attend this lockup. Requests must be submitted no later than 24 hours before the lockup is scheduled to start.

    Microdata: Preschool Education, Australia, 2014
    A microdata product in TableBuilder from the National Early Childhood Education and Care Collection on children, workers and service providers.

    The statistics on children include information about enrolment, attendance, hours of engagement and fees within various Preschool provider settings and types. Some geographic and demographic information is also available for children and their service providers. Statistics are also available for Children in the Year before Full-time Schooling and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

    Statistics on workers include the role and type of work that employees of service providers are engaged in, as well as the field and level of their qualifications. Some geographic and demographic information is available for service providers in relation to workers.

    The microdata enables users to tabulate, manipulate and analyse data. Steps to confidentialise the dataset are taken to ensure the integrity of data and maintain confidentiality of the respondents. This includes removing any information that might uniquely identify an individual, reducing the level of detail for some items and collapsing some categories.

In addition, corrections have also been made to mean and median aggregate expected time to serve data in Tables 10, 11 and 12 in the data cube "Prisoner characteristics, Australia" and Tables 25 and 28 in the data cube "Prisoner characteristics, states and territories". For secured housing finance for owner occupation, this publication presents the number and value of commitments made by banks, permanent building societies, wholesale lenders n.e.c. and other lenders, provided to individuals/households. These commitments are classified by construction of dwellings, the purchase of new and established dwellings, the refinancing of existing dwellings and alterations and additions to dwellings.

    This publication presents statistics on livestock slaughterings and meat production. These statistics are based on a monthly collection from abattoirs and other major slaughtering establishments and include estimates of animals slaughtered by country butchers and other small slaughtering establishments. Additional time series spreadsheets containing state/territory and national data are available from the Downloads tab for this publication. These spreadsheets contain original, seasonally adjusted and trend estimates for slaughtering and meat production for bulls, bullocks and steers, cows and heifers, cattle (excluding calves), calves, sheep, lambs and pigs.
