This publication contains estimates of the quantity of grain held in grain storage facilities operated by the major bulk grain handling companies and grain traders in Australia as at 31 December 2007.


KEY POINTS


With the harvest of winter grains almost complete, the quantity of grain held in storage facilities operated by the major bulk grain handling companies at 31 December 2007 was 15.6 million tonnes. This is a 60% increase on the November 2007 level but 700,000 tonnes below the December 2006 mark. Wheat and barley were again the main contributors with increases of 3.6 million tonnes and 1.7 million tonnes respectively between November and December 2007.
