TREND ESTIMATES
  • From May 2005 to May 2006 the number of public sector employees increased by 37,800 (2.4%) to 1,639,800.
  • In the same period the number of employees increased in Commonwealth government by 3.0% and in state government by 2.6%, but decreased in local government by 0.4%.
