  • Sales and service income in the Mining industry decreased by 7.5% (or $16.3b) to $201.1b between 2011-12 and 2012-13.
  • Coal mining declined by 16.9% ($9.9b) and Metal ore mining fell by 8.9% ($9b), driven by a $6.2b drop in Iron ore mining.
  • Oil and gas extraction, unlike the rest of the Mining industry, saw a rise in sales and service income of 10.3% ($3.6b) over the same period.
