Population clock and pyramid

Population clock

This projection is based on the estimated resident population at ERP Date and assumes growth since then of:

  • One birth every 1 minutes and 1 seconds.
  • One death every 1 minutes and 1 seconds.
  • One person arriving to live in Australia every 1 minutes and 1 seconds.
  • One Australia resident leaving to live overseas every 1 minutes and 1 seconds.
  • One Australian resident migrating from another state to live in Australia every 1 minutes and 1 seconds.
  • One Australia resident migrating to live in another state every 1 minutes and 1 seconds.
  • An overall total population increase of one person every 1 minutes and 1 seconds.

These assumptions are consistent with figures released in National, state and territory population.

Population clock and pyramid

These projections are not predictions or forecasts. They are a representation of what would happen to Australia’s population over time if the assumed changes for each population component (births, deaths and migration) were to occur.
