JULY KEY POINTS


ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
  • In original terms, July 2013 imports on an international merchandise trade basis were $22,028m, an increase of $3,691m (20%) on the revised June 2013 merchandise imports of $18,337m.


PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
  • Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms rose $3,168m (16%) between June and July 2013.
  • In seasonally adjusted terms, goods debits rose $934m (5%) between June and July 2013 to $21,450m. Intermediate and other merchandise goods rose $764m (9%), driven by fuels and lubricants, up $506m (17%) and other merchandise goods, up $124m (477%). Consumption goods rose $118m (2%), non-monetary gold rose $41m (11%) and capital goods rose $12m.


REVISIONS
  • Revisions have been made to the previous six months to incorporate the latest administrative data relating to international merchandise trade.
  • The preliminary balance of payments debits estimates incorporate the latest available data.
