ABOUT THIS PUBLICATION

This publication contains estimates of the quantity of grain held in grain storage facilities operated by the major bulk grain handling companies and grain traders in Australia as at 29 February 2008.

KEY POINTS

The quantity of grain held in storage facilities operated by the major bulk grain handling companies at 29 February 2008 was 13.5 million tonnes. This is a decrease of 8% from the level in January 2008 but 3% above last February's level. Stocks of most major grain types decreased, on average, between 10% and 15% over the last month. Stocks of 'Sorghum, other feed grains and pulses' nearly doubled, reflecting the harvesting of summer grown crops.
