ABOUT THIS ISSUE

This publication updates the preliminary estimates released in Construction Work Done, Australia (cat. no. 8755.0) on 25 May 2016.

DATA NOTE

This release includes revisions to Engineering Construction data back to September 2011.

Several time series spreadsheets for recent quarters contain 'np' (not available for publication) annotations. This is due to confidential data being contained in these series.

Chain volume estimates of Engineering Construction work done in the ACT have not been released for September 2015, December 2015 and March 2016. The ABS produces chain volume estimates to best represent changes in the volume of activity, excluding the impact of price changes; however, the volatility of the current price series for Engineering Construction work done in the ACT prevent the reliable estimation of chain volume measures. For more information on chain volume measures, see paragraphs 25 to 29 of the explanatory notes.

Trend estimates should be used with caution due to the volatility caused by large engineering projects. For more details on trend estimates, please see paragraphs 22 to 24 of the explanatory notes. The ABS Privacy Policy outlines how the ABS will handle any personal information that you provide to us.
