MAY KEY POINTS
ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
- In original terms, the May 2010 merchandise imports were $17,387m, an increase of $589m (4%) on the revised April 2010 merchandise imports of $16,798m.
PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
- Preliminary analysis shows that goods imports (debits) on a balance of payments basis increased $718m (4%) in seasonally adjusted terms from $17,842m in April 2010 to $18,560m in May 2010. Capital goods rose $383m (9%), consumption goods rose $214m (4%) and intermediate and other merchandise goods rose $182m (2%). Non-monetary gold fell $61m (7%).
