In This Issue Summary Of Findings About this Release History of Changes	IN THIS ISSUE INTRODUCTION The Australian Bureau of Statistics' (ABS) Census Data Enhancement (CDE) initiative improves and expands the range of official statistics available to Australian society, and improves the evidence base to support good government policy making, program management and service delivery. It does this by integrating data from the ABS' Census of Population and Housing with other ABS and non-ABS datasets to create new datasets for statistical and research purposes. This enables the ABS to enhance the value of Census data and leverage more information from the combination of individual datasets than is available from the separate datasets. The 2011 Migrants CDE project was one of several projects undertaken following the 2011 Census. The 2011 Migrants CDE Project involves linking data from the 2011 Census to data from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship's (DIAC) Settlement Data Base (SDB) for those people who have a settlement record on the SDB with a date of arrival between 1 January 2000 and 9th August 2011 (Census night) inclusive. Information about this project is also included on the Public Register of Data Integration Projects on the National Statistical Service website <www.nss.gov.au>. CENSUS DATA ENHANCEMENT PROJECT ABS CDE projects aim to generate two key information products: A Statistical report that publishes statistical results and provides a range of data for use by the wider community; and A Quality report that provides an assessment of the linking methodology, data quality and the data’s fitness for purpose. This publication presents output from the 2011 Migrants CDE Statistical project. It presents statistics and a range of data for use by the wider community. It makes use of a dataset which is referred to throughout this publication as the Migrants CDE Integrated Dataset, 2011. Specific information about this dataset is presented in the Explanatory Notes. A detailed assessment regarding the quality of the linkages has been conducted for the 2011 Migrants CDE Statistical project and can be found in the Research Paper: Assessing the Quality of Linking Migrant Settlement Records to 2011 Census Data, Aug 2013 (cat. no. 1351.0.55.043). This research paper describes the earlier 2006 Migrants CDE project, the probabilistic linking methodology and the impact of improvements to the two datasets and methodology since the 2006 project. It provides a good background and context for the statistical information provided in this publication. The establishment of the CDE project and associated details are presented in the ABS information paper Census Data Enhancement Project: An Update, Jun 2006 (cat. no. 2062.0) and the Discussion Paper: Enhancing the Population Census: Developing a Longitudinal View, 2006 (cat. no. 2060.0). An update on the outcomes of the 2006 CDE project and plans for the continuation of the project with respect to the 2011 Census were presented in the ABS information paper, Census Data Enhancement Project: An Update, Oct 2010 (cat. no. 2062.0).
