SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

The Queensland Land Account provides statistics to measure changes in land attributes over time, both from an economic and an environmental perspective. This forms part of a suite of environmental-economic accounts being developed for Australia. These estimates have been prepared for land based policy analysis. Tables are presented using formats recommended in the United Nations' System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) Central Framework 2012. Some additional outputs have been produced at the Statistical Area Level 2 (SA2) to demonstrate alternative methods to present land data. This publication is experimental as the methodology is being refined and the estimates should be used with caution.

The land use data in this publication is representative as at 30 June 2011 and 30 June 2016, while land cover is based on Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data from January 2010 to December 2011 and January 2014 to December 2015. Users should note the discrepancy between the land use and land cover data.

Please refer to the Explanatory Notes for more information.
