The Western Australian Aboriginal Child Health Survey (WAACHS) was the first large-scale epidemiological survey of Indigenous children in Australia. It provides detailed information about the health, mental health, education and other socioeconomic outcomes for Indigenous children in Western Australia.
Given that Queensland and the Northern Territory also have a substantial Indigenous population, these jurisdictions would find similar information to the WAACHS most useful in policy development and service provision. This paper examines the feasibility of using the WAACHS and other nationally available datasets to model key indicator variables for Queensland and the Northern Territory.
