INCOME FROM ORDERS RECEIVED VIA THE INTERNET (INTERNET INCOME)

Businesses which received orders via the internet in 2009-10 were asked about the proportion of goods and services income resulting from those orders.

During 2009-10, just under a quarter of businesses received orders via the internet, with income derived from these orders totalling approximately $143 billion. Businesses with 200 or more persons employed generated just under half of total internet income, at $66 billion.

Transport, postal and warehousing (which includes air transport) had one of the lowest proportions of businesses with internet access receiving orders via the internet (14%).
