WEB PRESENCE

A web presence was reported by 36% of Australian businesses as at 30 June 2008; this includes businesses with a website, home page or presence on another entity's website.

A strong association exists between the employment size of a business and the likelihood that the business has a web presence, ranging from 27% of businesses employing 0-4 persons to 96% for businesses with 200 or more persons employed. In considering these results, users should take into account the composition of the population in scope of the Business Characteristics Survey. Businesses employing 0-4 persons comprise just under two thirds of the population and have a relatively low incidence of web presence.
