Wheat is grown mainly in the western and north western areas of Victoria, with the greatest production from the Mallee and Wimmera Statistical Divisions (SDs). In 2004-05, production was 1.9 million tonnes.

In 2004-05, 32% of all wheat produced in Victoria came from the Mallee SD (610,000 tonnes). This was followed by the Wimmera SD, with 28% (537,000 tonnes).
