DOMESTIC AUSTRALIAN TABLE WINE SALES TREND


TOTAL WHITE AND RED/ROSÉ TABLE WINE

The trend estimate for white table wine sales increased 0.4% in April 2007. This was the third month of increase, after five months of decline. The trend estimate for red and rosé wine sales decreased 0.3% on March 2007, the first decrease after eleven consecutive monthly increases.

TABLE WINE, GLASS CONTAINER LESS THAN 2 LITRES

The trend estimate for sales of white table wine in glass containers of less than 2 litres increased 1.2% on March 2007, the fourth consecutive month of increase. The trend estimate for red and rosé wine sales in glass containers of less than 2 litres increased 0.7% in April 2007, the thirteenth consecutive month of increase.

TABLE WINE, SOFT PACK CONTAINERS

The trend estimate for domestic sales of white table wine in soft packs decreased slightly in April 2007, continuing the downward trend from the previous seven months. This was the eighth consecutive month decline. The trend estimate for red and rosé wine sales in soft packs decreased 1.8% for April 2007. This is the fifth consecutive month of decrease.
