STATE TRENDS


MONTHLY SEASONALLY ADJUSTED AND TREND ESTIMATES


NEW SOUTH WALES

There has been weak trend growth in the last seven months. Food retailing (one month) and Department stores (two months) have had weak trend growth. Recreational good retailing has had moderate growth for six months and Household good retailing has had strong trend growth in the last three months.

VICTORIA

There has been moderate trend growth for five months. Food retailing (nine months), Department stores (three months), Hospitality and services (three months), Clothing and soft good retailing (two months) and Household good retailing (one month) have all had moderate growth. Recreational good retailing has had strong trend growth for the last four months, while Other retailing has been flat or in decline over the same period.

QUEENSLAND

Queensland has had weak trend growth in the last four months. Food retailing (four months), Department stores (three months) and Recreational good retailing (one month) have had moderate trend growth. Household good retailing has maintained nine months of strong trend growth, while the other industries have been in decline for at least seven months.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

The trend growth was weak in January 2007 following ten months of moderate growth. Food retailing (two months), Department stores (three months) and Other retailing (five months) have had moderate growth. Household good retailing had weak trend growth in January 2007, while the other industries were in decline.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The trend growth has been strong for 13 months. Hospitality and services (13 months), Other retailing (14 months) and Recreational good retailing (six months) have had strong trend growth. Food retailing had moderate trend growth in January 2007 following three months of strong growth and Department stores has had moderate trend growth for three months.

TASMANIA

The trend has been in decline for the last three months. Hospitality and services (three months), Recreational good retailing (two months) and Clothing and soft good retailing (two months) have been in decline. Food retailing has had weak growth for the last three months.
