The chart below shows the trend series and seasonally adjusted series to July 2011.

In current prices, the trend estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.1% in July 2011 following a rise of 0.1% in June 2011 and a rise of 0.2% May 2011.

The seasonally adjusted estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.5% in July 2011 following a fall of 0.1% in June 2011 and a fall of 0.6% in May 2011.

The original estimate for Australian turnover rose 3.4% in July 2011. The original estimate for chains and other larger retailers rose 3.5% in July 2011. The original estimate for smaller retailers rose 3.3% in July 2011.

TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE

The following states and territories rose in trend terms in July 2011: Victoria (0.4%), Queensland (0.3%), Western Australia (0.4%) and Tasmania (0.1%). The Northern Territory (0.0%) was relatively unchanged. New South Wales (-0.2%), South Australia (-0.5%) and the Australian Capital Territory (-0.7%) fell in trend terms in July 2011.

The following states and territories rose in seasonally adjusted terms in July 2011: New South Wales (1.0%), Victoria (0.3%), Western Australia (0.7%), South Australia (0.8%), Tasmania (0.8%), the Northern Territory (0.8%) and the Australian Capital Territory (0.1%). Queensland (-0.2%) fell in seasonally adjusted terms in July 2011.
