The chart below shows the trend series and seasonally adjusted series to February 2016.

In current prices, the trend estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.2% in February 2016 following a rise of 0.2% in January 2016 and a rise of 0.3% in December 2015.

The seasonally adjusted estimate for Australian turnover was relatively unchanged (0.0%) in February 2016 following a rise of 0.3% in January 2016 and a relatively unchanged (0.0%) December 2015.

The original estimate for Australian turnover fell 8.2% in February 2016. The original estimate for chains and other larger retailers fell 10.7% in February 2016. The original estimate for smaller retailers fell 3.0% in February 2016.

TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE

The following states and territories rose in trend terms in February 2016: New South Wales (0.2%), Victoria (0.2%), Queensland (0.2%), the Australian Capital Territory (1.1%), South Australia (0.3%), Tasmania (0.3%) and the Northern Territory (0.3%). Western Australia (-0.2%) fell in trend terms in February 2016.

The following states and territories rose in seasonally adjusted terms in February 2016: Victoria (0.4%), New South Wales (0.2%), the Australian Capital Territory (1.0%) and South Australia (0.3%). Queensland (-0.4%), Western Australia (-0.6%), the Northern Territory (-1.6%) and Tasmania (-0.5%) fell in seasonally adjusted terms in February 2016.
