WHEAT GRAIN COMMITTED

In December 2010, wheat grain committed for domestic use or export increased slightly to 6.4 million tonnes, a 3% increase from November 2010 and almost double the amount in December 2009.

Of the total wheat grain committed, 4.9 million tonnes was contracted for export. In December 2010, only Victoria (up by 41%) and Western Australia (up by 15%) reported increased export commitments from November 2010.

Compared to November 2010, wheat grain committed for domestic use rose by 17% to 1.5 million tonnes in December 2010. This matches the comparative total from December 2009.
