MEAT PRODUCTION TREND


BEEF

In the September quarter 2008, the trend estimate for beef production increased by 1% to 540 thousand tonnes.


MUTTON AND LAMB
Graph: Mutton and Lamb

In the September quarter 2008 the trend estimate for mutton production remained steady at 66 thousand tonnes. The trend estimate for lamb production this quarter fell by 4% to 98 thousand tonnes.


TOTAL RED MEAT
Graph: Total red meat

The trend estimate for total red meat production fell marginally to 795 thousand tonnes in the September quarter 2008.


CHICKEN MEAT

The trend estimate for chicken meat production in the September quarter 2008 increased by 2% to 205 thousand tonnes.
