2008-09 Agricultural Survey - Outputs
The main outputs from the collection will include: estimates of activity (as outlined above); and estimates of population participation (counts) by activity (as outlined above) for in-scope agricultural businesses throughout the 2008-09 financial year.
As with past surveys, estimates will be available by;
- commodity,
- Estimated Value of Agricultural Operations (EVAO),
- Area of Holding ranges, and
- Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) classes.
Data will be released at the national, state and natural resource management (NRM) levels.
Several preliminary and final outputs from the 2008-09 Agricultural Survey are planned to be released between November 2009 and July 2010. This information will be available in the following ABS publications:
- Principal Agricultural Commodities, Australia, Preliminary, 2008-09 (cat. no. 7111.0)
This publication will contain preliminary estimates of principal agricultural commodities and livestock numbers for 2008-09, and comparative data for the previous two years. The proposed release date of November 2009 is timed to support the Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics (ABARE's) forecast program.
- Value of Agricultural Commodities Produced, Preliminary, 2008-09 (cat. no. 7501.0)
This publication will contain preliminary estimates of the gross value of production of selected crops, livestock slaughterings and livestock products. The proposed release date is February 2010.
- Agricultural Commodities, Australia, 2008-09 (cat. no. 7121.0)
This publication will provide final 2008-09 estimates for major agriculture outputs and activity. It will contain tables and broad commentary on agriculture industry structure, area and production of crops, livestock numbers and land use. Information will be available by ANZSIC and EVAO. Data cubes containing statistics for the NRM regions will also be available with this product. The proposed release date is May 2010.
- Value of Agricultural Commodities Produced, 2008-09 (cat. no. 7503.0)
This publication will provide final 2008-09 estimates for the gross and local value of production for selected broadacre, fruit (including grapes) and vegetable crops, livestock slaughterings and other disposals, and livestock products. Data cubes containing statistics for the NRM regions will also be available with this product. The proposed release date is July 2010.
- Water Use on Australian Farms, 2008-09 (cat. no. 4618.0)
This publication will include data on the type and area of crops irrigated, the volume of water applied and water-related management and expenditure information. It will be available for each State and NRM region, and will include datacubes. The proposed release date is June 2010.
Water use information collected as part of the 2008-09 Agricultural Survey will support the four yearly Water Account, Australia, 2008-09 (cat. no. 4610.0). The proposed release date is late 2011.
