Another of the major publications to be released on 29 June this year is the Value of Agricultural Commodities Produced, Australia, 2010-11 (cat. no. 7503.0)

The 2010-11 Value of Agricultural Commodities Produced provides final estimates of gross and local values of production of major agricultural commodities for all states, territories and Australia for the year ended 30 June 2011. Value of Agricultural Commodities Produced (VACP) puts a dollar value on the gross value of major commodities such as crops, livestock and livestock products. The data were collected as part of the 2011 Agricultural Census, the preliminary results of which were published on the ABS website on 17 November 2011 in Value of Principal Agricultural Commodities Produced, Australia (cat. no. 7501.0). Preliminary figures from the Agricultural Census are shown at the State/Territory level.

Because of the increase in agricultural commodity content collected in the Census, more commodities have been included from those published in previous Agricultural Surveys. The final estimates publication will include a pdf version of the tables as well as a summary of the various commodities, which include crops, livestock slaughterings and livestock products. The included tables will show the gross and local values of selected commodities on a state by state basis as well as marketing costs. The state level data will also be released in data cube format on the ABS website.

In August this year we will attach further data cubes to the VACP publication showing data at lower levels such as National Resource Management (NRM), Statistical Local Area (SLA), Statistical Area 2 (SA2) and Statistical Division (SD) levels.
