On 28 February 2006 the ABS released a new version of the Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC). The Producer Price Indexes (PPIs) publish data tables based on ANZSIC and therefore the introduction of the new classification will have an impact on many of the PPI indexes.
The new classification will be introduced into the Producer Price Indexes, Australia (cat. no. 6427.0) and International Trade Price Indexes, Australia (cat. no. 6457.0) in the September quarter 2009 publications, with the first data on the ANZSIC 2006 basis available in October 2009.
At this stage we plan to publish indexes for both classifications (ANZSIC 1993 and ANZSIC 2006) until September quarter 2010. After this time we will discontinue publication on an ANZSIC 1993 basis. Please note that this time frame is indicative only and subject to change.
Prior to the change to ANZSIC 2006 an Information Paper outlining details of the changes will be made available to users.
