AGGREGATE MONTHLY HOURS WORKED TREND ESTIMATES


FULL TIME

The trend estimate of aggregate monthly hours worked by full time workers generally rose from 1,183 million hours in February 2003 to 1,351 million hours in August 2008. The trend then fell to 1,310 million hours in July 2009, before rising to 1,382 million hours in September 2011. The trend has since generally fallen to 1,378 million hours in August 2012 before rising to 1,383 million hours in February 2013.

PART TIME

The trend estimate of aggregate monthly hours worked by part time workers generally fell from 187 million hours in February 2003 to 186 million hours in August 2003. The trend has since generally risen to 244 million hours in February 2013.

TOTAL

The trend total aggregate monthly hours worked followed a similar pattern to that of full time workers. It generally rose from 1,370 million hours in February 2003 to 1,568 million hours in August 2008 before falling to 1,535 million hours in June 2009. The trend has since generally risen to 1,627 million hours in February 2013.
