CHANGES IN FORTHCOMING ISSUES

FORMATTING CHANGES TO DATA CUBES 8 AND 9

From the January 2014 issue of this publication minor formatting changes will be applied to data cubes 8 and 9. Mock-up data cubes incorporating the changes have been released in this issue to allow data users to prepare for the changes.

CHANGES TO IMPORT AND EXPORT STATISTICAL CODES

Statistics in the January 2014 and future issues of this publication will be impacted by revisions to the Customs Tariff classification that came into effect on 1 January 2014. The changes resulted from the introduction of new statistical codes separately identifying pharmaceuticals in Chapter 30, carpet underlay in Chapters 39 and 40, and carpet in Chapter 57. The changes will not impact directly on the presentation of statistics in forthcoming issues of this publication but will impact on detailed import statistics available on request.

Revised pages for the Customs Tariff are available on the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service website. A complete copy of the new Customs Tariff will be available from the Customs website, <http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page5663.asp>.

The following table shows codes that closed on 31 December 2013 and their replacement codes which opened on 1 January 2014.
