PROPOSED CHANGES TO STATISTICAL CODES IN THE AUSTRALIAN HARMONIZED EXPORT COMMODITY CLASSIFICATION (AHECC) AND HARMONIZED TARIFF ITEM STATISTICAL CODE (HTISC) 2017
A review conducted by the World Customs Organisation (WCO) has resulted in a series of changes at the six digit Harmonized Commodity level which will be implemented on 1 January 2017. These changes will impact export statistical codes from the Australian Harmonized Export Commodity Classification (AHECC) (cat. no. 1233.0) and import statistical codes from the Combined Australian Customs Tariff Nomenclature and Statistical Classification. The ABS has been reviewing these impacts and is developing new AHECC and Tariff structures to provide importers, exporters and users an opportunity to provide feedback about the new structures.
The Discussion Paper: Proposed Changes to Statistical Codes in the Australian Harmonized Export Commodity Classification (cat. no. 5368.0.55.022) was released on the ABS website on 26 July 2016.
The Discussion Paper: Proposed Changes to Statistical Codes in the Working Tariff (cat. no. 5368.0.55.023) will be released on the ABS website on 30 September 2016.
