CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE
CONFIDENTIALITY RESTRICTIONS
As advised in the December 2008 issue of International Merchandise Trade, Australia (cat. no. 5439.0), the method used to confidentialise data for Imports of goods was changed for the September 2008 reference month and has changed again with this issue.
RECORDED TRADE SERIES
From the September 2008 reference month, data that have the confidentiality restrictions 'no commodity details' or 'no value details' are published as 'No country details' in the country totals and 'State not available for publication' in the state totals. From December 2008 reference month, additional restrictions have been applied to some components and care should be taken when interpreting the Machinery and transport equipment series in publication table 13; the Industrial transport equipment (excl. passenger motor cars, parts and access) BEC series in electronic spreadsheet 33; and country and state series. Confidentially restrictions applied to merchandise trade data are detailed in the Confidential Commodities List (CCL) (cat. no. 5372.0.55.001).
BALANCE OF PAYMENTS SERIES
Prior to September 2008 reference month, commodities subject to a 'no commodity details' or 'no value details' restriction are included in the Other merchandise goods series. From September to November 2008, commodities with these restrictions are included in the Civil aircraft series. For December 2008, the Civil aircraft series and commodities subject to a 'no commodity details' or 'no value details' restriction are included in the Capital goods n.e.s. series. As a result of the change in the composition of the series, trend estimates for the Capital goods n.e.s. series have been suppressed for December 2008. Care should be taken when interpreting the Capital goods n.e.s. series in publication tables 4, 6 and 8 and in related electronic spreadsheets.
