The 2nd National ACROD Ageing & Disability Conference, 'PASSIONS POWER PRACTICE', will be held in Hobart on 18 - 20th July 2005. The aims of the 2005 Conference are to evaluate the progress made over the last year; explore promising programs and policy development; and enable people with disabilities and their supporters to influence professional practice.

The Australian Social Policy Conference, 'Looking back, looking forward: A quarter century of social change', will be held in Sydney on 20-22 July 2005, marking the 25th anniversary of the Social Policy Research Centre. Presentations will examine social and policy changes past, present and future. Topic areas will include employment, unemployment and welfare reform, disability, social policy and environmental sustainability, income distribution and social inequalities, retirement and ageing, indigenous Australians and organisation and delivery of community Services.

The Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research (CAEPR) two-day multidisciplinary conference, Indigenous Socioeconomic Outcomes: Assessing Recent Evidence will be held in Canberra on 11-12 August 2005. The aim of the conference is to present the latest evidence on Indigenous economic status, social status, and family and community life in Australia and to discuss the implications of such data for government policy. The conference will provide information which will be of great value to policy makers and researchers, and will assist them in making the best use of the results of the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics Census and social surveys, in particular the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Survey (NATSISS).

The Social Change in the 21st Century conference of the Centre for Social Change Research at Queensland University of Technology on 25 October 2005 will showcase social research projects that address a wide range of issues pertaining to social change at a local, national and international level, and which collectively contribute to a better understanding of the drivers of social change and the implications for individuals, families, nations and beyond. Themes of the conference include gender and sexuality, ageing: barriers and beliefs, challenges and change, past reflection, ethical consideration for the new millennium, culture: roles and relations and community engagement and communication.

Submissions for papers and posters on topics related to social change are invited; submissions from emerging researchers are particularly encouraged. Abstracts are due by 15 July 2005.
