This datacube contains time series data on children's participation in organised sport and/or dancing by age group (5-8 years, 9-11 years and 12-14 years) and sex in 2000, 2003 and 2006.

Data is provided by state and/or territory on children's participation numbers and participation rates.

Data at a national level is provided on the hours and frequency of children's participation (including the mean and median), as well as the participation numbers and rates of children in the top ten most popular sports.

Children who participated in dancing as an organised cultural activity has been included with children who participated in organised sport, due to the high participation rate of girls in dancing, and the physical nature of the activity.
