CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE
This edition of the Water Account, Australia features revisions to the Summary and Monetary tables.
Average unit prices paid by households in 2013-14 were revised for four states and territories because of better information from survey and administrative sources. These revisions have resulted in changes to the average (weighted) unit price at the national level for 2013-14, as well as monetary estimates of household consumption for the same year.
There were revisions to published data used to calculate key indicators in the Summary and Monetary tables. These are population and housing data from Australian Demography Statistics (cat. no. 3101.0), as well as annual benchmarks from the Australian System of National Accounts (cat. no. 5204.0). These revisions cover the entire time series from 2008-09 to 2013-14.
A new indicator series has been introduced in this edition. This series is "Final consumption per household (kL)" which replaces "Household water consumption (kL) per capita" in Summary Table 1.
Revisions have also been made in the Soil Water tables to correctly account for water incorporated products through meat cattle grazing.
For these reasons, please note that some of the estimates presented in the 2014-15 edition of the Water Account, Australia, will differ to the corresponding estimates presented in the 2013-14 edition.
