Contains episode and unique counts of children enrolled and attending a preschool program across Australia in 2013. The results presented are compiled from data collected through the National Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Collection and include statistics on children, workers and service providers delivering an Early Childhood Education program. Children enrolled in and attending preschool are disaggregated by various classifications including state/territory, type of preschool (government, non-government, long day care), Remoteness Areas (RA), Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA) Index of Relative Socio-economic Disadvantage, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and age. Statistics relating to Early Childhood Education (ECE) program fees and the hours enrolled and attending an ECE program by children are also presented.

The Australian Statistician has approved, in exceptional circumstances, a 9:30am EST lockup for this product.
It is important from a public good perspective that key ministers are able to respond in an informed manner to requests from the media about the statistics in this product and thereby avoiding any inadvertent misinterpretation.

Approval is required for representatives of Government departments wishing to attend this lockup. Requests must be submitted no later than 24 hours before the lockup is scheduled to start.
