ABOUT THIS RELEASE

Contains statistics from an objective assessment of the Australian population's skill levels in certain aspects of literacy. In particular, these statistics will contain information on the characteristics of people with different levels of literacy ability including age, labour force participation, educational attainment, whether spoke English as first language. These statistics also compare people's own perceptions of their literacy abilities with an objective assessment of those abilities.

The next release of this product will be called Adult Literacy and Life Skills Survey, Summary Results, Australia 2006.
