Pears are a significant fruit crop in Victoria. In 2002-03, Victorian farmers produced 119,200 tonnes of pears, well ahead of the next highest producer (Western Australia with 9,100 tonnes). Nearly all pears were grown in the Goulburn Statistical Division (SD).

The main pear varieties grown in Victoria in 2002-03 were:

  • WBC (which includes Bartlett, Duchess and Williams) (63,800 tonnes)
  • Packham (43,000 tonnes)
  • Beurre Bosc (7,800 tonnes)

In 2002-03, 97% of all pears produced in Victoria came from the Goulburn SD (115,300 tonnes).
