ABOUT THIS RELEASE

The Indigenous Profile (IP) contains 29 Excel formatted tables that provide key census characteristics of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons, families and dwellings. Some tables provide comparisons with the non-Indigenous population.

The Census continues to be one of the most important sources of statistical information about Indigenous people, and the results are used extensively by Indigenous communities, organisations and government.

All tables within this profile are available for the following geographical levels: ATSIC Region, Indigenous Areas, Remoteness Areas, Local Government Areas (LGA), Statistical Subdivisions (SSD), Statistical Divisions (SD), Statistical Districts, States/Territories and Australia. Only Tables I01, I02, I03, I13 and I29 are available at SLA and Indigenous Location level due to small population size. All Indigenous Profiles are available free.
