PRINCIPAL FEDERAL OFFENCE

Of the defendants heard in the Higher Courts, three-quarters had a principal federal offence in the following three ASOC Divisions: fraud and deception (34%); illicit drug offences (25%); and sexual assault (17%).

For the Magistrates' Courts, almost three-quarters had a principal federal offence in the following three ASOC Divisions: fraud and deception (33%); offences against justice procedures (30%); and abduction and harassment (10%).

More than three-quarters of defendants in the Children's Court had a principal federal offence in the following four ASOC Divisions: abduction and harassment (38%); offences against justice procedures (19%); public order offences (13%); and fraud and deception (9%).
