Western Australian Statistical Indicators (1367.5) provides a compendium of statistical information about Western Australia. It integrates a wide range of data from ABS and other sources and facilitates easy one-stop access for those seeking to understand the social and economic characteristics of Western Australia and changes over time.

The publication is designed to assist research and informed decision-making across a diverse range of interests. In particular,
    • each chapter provides for general readership with an easy to interpret overview of a particular social or economic topic;
    • linked spreadsheets provide detailed time-series data to assist with undertaking more in-depth statistical analyses; and
    • the feature article provides a more extensive analysis of a current topic of wide interest.


CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE

This issue has several new features including:
  • New topics in the Population and Social Trends chapter: Demographic Indicators, Recorded Crime - Victims, and Education and Training, as well as the previous topics, Population Growth and Causes of Death. This chapter contains the latest data and will be updated as new data become available.
  • New topic in the Construction chapter on the Value of Building Work Done .
  • Links to more Excel spreadsheets on the ABS website, including an expanded Statistical Summary spreadsheet with social as well as economic indicators.
  • A feature article providing an overview of the Pilbara region and covering a range of topics from the Spotlight on the Pilbara.

The statistics provided in this issue are the latest available as at 13 October 2009.

Explanatory Notes of the form found in other ABS publications are not included in Western Australian Statistical Indicators. Readers are directed to the Explanatory Notes contained in related ABS publications.
