Queensland Year Book 1997 released

The Queensland Year Book 1997 was released this week by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The highly regarded work is a principal reference about Queensland and a source of quality information to assist informed decision-making. It is also valuable to schools as a resource.

The latest edition provides a comprehensive and detailed statistical review of Queensland's economy and social conditions as well as information about lifestyle, natural attractions, geography, climate, history, government and culture.

ABS's Regional Director for Queensland, Mr Brian Doyle, said a number of special features were contained in Queensland Year Book 1997. These included:
  • The Governor-General;
  • Noosa National Park;
  • The Centenary of Gatton College, University of Queensland;
  • Longreach QANTAS Founders Outback Museum; and
  • The new Brisbane International Air Terminal.

Mr Doyle thanked the individuals, primary producers, government agencies and other organisations who provided the basic information from which ABS statistics were produced. Their continued cooperation was essential to compilation of accurate and helpful statistics.
