GEOGRAPHY

The Australian Standard Geographic Classification (ASGC) will be expanded in 2001. It will include two new ways of reporting regional data. An indicator of remoteness, ARIA (Accessibility and Remoteness Index of Australia) has been developed. The classification of urban, small and large towns will also change. For the first time suburb level data from the 2001 census will be available for Sydney and parts of Melbourne.
