This publication contains estimates of the quantity of grain stored in grain storage facilities operated by major bulk grain handling companies and grain traders in Australia as at 31 January 2007.


KEY POINTS

The total quantity of grain held in storage facilities operated by the major grain handling companies at 31 January 2007 was 14.8 million tonnes. This was a decrease of 9% on the December stock level of 16.3 million tonnes. Stocks of all grain types declined, with wheat and barley experiencing the most significant falls of 10% and 7% respectively. Stocks of oilseeds fell 8% while stocks of the other grains declined marginally.
